The online voice of cambridge campus students

-The smoking policy has been in ongoing discussions since last year.  Before the Interim President made her final decision, she asked for our comments.  As of now, the plan is to move to a smoke free campus in January 2011.   -Winter Clothing drive went really well!  All of our donations went to New Pathways again!  Please stop in to the Student Government office if you have any items to donate to New Pathways, we will see that it gets there!   -We are still working on getting the "Clothes Line Project" off and running in the spring.   -Kirsten Kennedy and Natasha Kolbe traveled to Winona State University and attended the MnScu "Social Justice and Leadership Retreat"  It was an amazing experience, and we are hoping to get some of the entertainment from the weekend to come to the Cambridge campus, watch for it in the spring.   -In March, Cambridge will be hosting a multi-media concert event called, "A Girl Named Vincent"  The show will be some of Edna St Vincent Millay's early poetry set to music, historical and biographical narrative, and images.    -Our last meeting is Tuesday, December 7 2010 at 12:15pm in G201   -If you are interested in becoming a part of student government, please stop in the office or just show up to a meeting!  We are looking ahead to spring semester and looking at everyones schedules to pick a date and time that works for most everyone!   Have a Safe and Happy Holiday and Winter Break!

-We had an extremely successful Welcome Week. We were really excited to kick off the 2010-2011 school year with our Candidate Meet and Greet and Minnesota Voter Workshop as part of our GOTV (Get Out The Vote) week. We were able to register 21 new voters and handed out over a dozen voter registration cards.

-The first Student Life meeting was Thursday, Sept.23, 2010. We had a great turn out, but encourage everyone to come. You don’t have to be a part of any club or committee. This is open to everyone on campus.

The next Student Life meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. where Mike Seymour, ARCC-Vice President, will be attending to discuss the extra land by the athletic field.

-Student Government is partnering with the clubs on campus, staff, and faculty to participate in Box City. Box City is an event that supports New Pathways, our local Homeless Shelter. We all create and decorate boxes and sleep in them overnight to raise awareness for the homeless in our local communities. There is going to be Karaoke, face painting, games and prizes, and a "Soup Kitchen" put on by Perkin’s restaurant. Everyone can join in! Stop by the Student Government Office to get the application form or to get more information.

Box City is Oc. 16, 2010 at the Isanti County Fairgrounds.

-We will attend the MSCSA Fall General Assembly in Bloomington Oct. 21-24, 2010.

-The athletic field is almost complete. They have just finished adding the sprinkler system.

-Our Cambridge Campus Open House is Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. Open to everyone.

-Kirsten Kennedy will be attending the Jackson Katz "A few Good Men" on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010

-The Fall Food Drive is Oct. 25-29!! All of the food collected will be staying locally! Watch for the donation boxes on campus! I challenge everyone to make this the biggest collection in our campus’ history!

We Want You! Join Student Government, you can be a full-time member or a part-time member! Stop in the office to ask us how or just come to a meeting.

Student Government meetings are Tuesdays at 12:15 p.m. in room G201. Bring your lunch with you! Everyone is welcome to apply or sit in on a meeting to see if it’s right for you
